Welcome to our blog My Crafts Ideas, it’s great to have you here again. Today we are going to talk about a charming crochet blanket pattern that is perfect for our babies, I’m talking about the Sedge Stripes Baby Blanket. This striped crochet blanket pattern is perfect for putting your skills into practice and developing new crochet techniques. We hope you like this subject.
Although it may seem challenging, I assure you it is not, and this type of yarn made everything even simpler. The stitches involved include the single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet. Learning how to do each stitch is actually very useful practice.
Over time, this process became quite rhythmic, and I really appreciated the relaxing nature of this particular stitch pattern. The Sedge Stitch is, without a doubt, a classic in the crochet world.
The Sedge Stitch pattern allows for flexibility in designing your stripes as you desire.
When it comes to borders, this blanket is an excellent choice for beginners like myself because it doesn’t require a border. After completing the blanket, all you need to do is weave in the ends, and you’re finished.
Adding borders can be challenging for beginners because determining where to place your hook along the sides of the blanket can be tricky.
Now, let’s dive into the pattern!
Materials:
Red Heart Soft Essentials (100% acrylic, 141 g/5 oz, 120 m/131 yds)
3 skeins of White
1 skein of Peony
3 skeins of Greyhound
Size J/6.00mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Size Finished dimensions: 30 inches x 32 inches
Stitches
Single Crochet (SC): Insert your hook, yarn over (YO), pull up a loop, YO, pull through two loops.
Half Double Crochet (HDC): YO, insert your hook, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through three loops.
Double Crochet (DC): YO, insert your hook, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through two loops, YO, pull through the last two loops
Begin with Gray yarn. Create a foundation chain of 99 stitches. To adjust the size of your blanket, start with a chain that is any multiple of 3.
ROW 1: In the second chain from the hook, work 1 HDC (half double crochet) and 1 DC (double crochet). Skip two chains and in the next chain, work 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC. Continue this pattern across by skipping two chains and repeating “SC, HDC, DC” into the next chain. Keep repeating until you reach the end, leaving one chain. Work 1 SC and turn.
ROW 2: Chain one (this counts as your first SC), then work HDC and DC into the top of the SC you just made. Skip over the DC and HDC, then in the next SC, work “SC, HDC, DC.” You’ll always be looking for the SC to do your “SC, HDC, DC” into. Repeat this pattern across, ending the last stitch with one single crochet. Chain one and turn.
Continue repeating ROW 2 for the rest of the blanket.
Color Changes: For color changes, I used the following sequence:
