Foundation Ring: With color A, ch 4; join with sl st in the first ch to form a ring.
Round 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 10 dc in ring, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 – 11 dc.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the same stitch as joining sl st, 2 dc in each stitch around, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 – 22 dc.
Round 3: Ch 3, skip the same stitch as joining sl st, *skip next stitch, V-st in next stitch; repeat from * to last stitch, skip last stitch, dc in the same stitch as joining sl st, ch 2, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 (to join round and complete last V-st) – 11 V-sts.
Round 4: Sl st to ch-2 space of next V-st, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the same ch-2 space (first shell made), shell in ch-2 space of each V-st around, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 – 11 shells.
Round 5: Sl st in next stitch, ch 3 (counts as dc), *shell in next ch-2 space, dc in next stitch, skip next 2 stitches, dc in next stitch; repeat from * to last ch-2 space, shell in last ch-2 space, dc in next stitch, skip last stitch, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 – 11 shells and 22 dc (6 dc between ch-2 spaces).
Round 6: Sl st to dc immediately following the ch-2 space, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next stitch, skip next 2 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches, shell in next ch-2 space, *dc in next 2 stitches, skip next 2 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches, shell in next ch-2 space; repeat from * around, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 – 11 shells and 44 dc (4 dc along each side of 11 points).
Round 7: Ch 3 (counts as dc), skip next 2 stitches, dc in next 3 stitches, shell in next ch-2 space, *dc in next 3 stitches, skip next 2 stitches, dc in next 3 stitches, shell in next ch-2 space; repeat from * around, dc in last 2 stitches, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 – 11 shells and 66 dc (5 dc along each side of 11 points).
Round 8: Sl st to ch-2 of next shell, ch 3, *dc in each stitch to 1 stitch before space where 2 stitches were skipped in previous round, skip next 2 stitches, dc in each stitch to next ch-2 space, shell in ch-2 space; repeat from * around, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 – 11 shells and 88 dc (6 dc along each side of 11 points).
Round 9: Ch 3 (counts as dc), *dc in each stitch to 1 stitch before space where 2 stitches were skipped, skip next 2 stitches, dc in each stitch to next ch-2 space, shell in ch-2 space; repeat from * around, dc in last 2 stitches, join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3 – 11 shells and 110 dc (7 dc along each side of 11 points).
Rounds 10-19: Repeat Rounds 8 and 9 until you have 19 dc along each side of 11 points.
Option to Increase Size: Continue to repeat Rounds 8 and 9 until desired size is achieved. Each round will increase by 1 dc along each side and will continue to have 11 points.
Last Round (Round 20): Sl st to ch-2 space of next shell, ch 1, *3 sc in the same ch-2 space, sc in each stitch to 1 stitch before space where 2 stitches were skipped, skip next 2 stitches, sc in each stitch to next ch-2 space; repeat from * around, join with sl st in the first sc – 429 sc (18 sc along each side of 3-sc points). Fasten off.
