Pattern Notes
This throw is made by crocheting 42 motifs and joining them together with a slip stitch seam. A border is worked around the entire blanket after the motifs are joined.
Throw
Motif (Make 42)
- With CC, make a Magic Ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1 throughout), into the ring work (dc, ch 1) 7 times, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4 – 8 dc, 8 ch-1 spaces.
Rnd 2: (Sc in next ch-1 space, Shell in next ch-1 space) 4 times, join to first sc with sl st, drop CC, pick up MC – 8 Shells (2 per corner).
Rnd 3: With MC, (ch 4, dc, ch 3, V-st) in same space, *ch 5, skip next Shell, (V-st, ch 3, V-st) in next sc; repeat from * two more times, ch 5, skip last corner Shell, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4.
Rnd 4: *Shell in next ch-1 space, sc in next ch-3 space, Shell in next ch-1 space, working over the next ch-5 space, sc in the center dc of the next corner Shell, 2 rounds below; repeat from * 3 more times, do not join, drop MC, pick up CC.
Rnd 5: With CC, ch 4, dc in same stitch, *ch 5, skip next Shell, [V-st, ch 3, V-st] in next sc (corner made), ch 5, skip next Shell, V-st in next sc; repeat from * 3 more times, omitting last V-st, join to 3rd ch of beg ch-4, fasten off CC, pick up MC.
Rnd 6: With MC, sl st in ch-1 space of first V-st, Shell in same space, *working over the next ch-5 space, sc in the center dc of the next Shell, 2 rounds below, Shell in next ch-1 space, sc in next ch-3 space, Shell in next ch-1 space, working over the next ch-5 space, sc in the center dc of the next Shell, 2 rounds below, Shell in ch-1 space of next V-st; repeat from * 3 more times, omitting last Shell, join with sl st to first dc of beginning Shell – 12 Shells.
Rnd 7: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), work (2 hdc, 3 sc, 2 hdc) across each Shell, work 1 dc in each sc on side edges of Motif and work 3 dc in each sc in corner of Motif, join to 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
Finishing
Fasten off, weave in ends. With MC, Sl St Seam the motifs together, 6 motifs wide and 7 motifs long.
Border
Join CC in top right corner with a sl st.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 156 sc across top edge, 4 sc in next corner, 180 sc down left side, 4 sc in next corner, 156 sc across bottom edge, 4 sc in next corner, 180 up right side and 4 sc in last corner, join with a sl st to beginning sc.
Rnd 2: Join MC with a sc 2 stitches to the left of top right corner stitch, *(skip 2 stitches, 5 dc in next stitch, skip 2 stitches, sc in next stitch) to 1 stitch before next corner stitch, skip 1 stitch, 5 dc in corner stitch, skip 1 stitch, sc in next stitch; repeat from * around, omitting last sc, join with a sl st to first sc.
