Abbreviations (US Terminology):

DC: Double Crochet
SC: Single Crochet
C2C: Corner to Corner

The Corner to Corner (C2C) technique is a popular crochet method where you create a pattern by working diagonally from one corner of your project to the opposite corner. This approach builds your piece one small “box” at a time, increasing in size with each row until you reach the midpoint, and then decreasing in size as you work toward the opposite corner.

In the C2C in DC technique that we’ll be focusing on, you’ll be using double crochet stitches to create each box. This method results in a beautifully textured square that’s perfect for blankets, pillows, or even wall hangings.

If you’re new to C2C or need a refresher, I recommend watching a video tutorial. The step-by-step guide on the RonariCrochet YouTube channel is an excellent resource to help you master this technique. The video is linked below for your convenience.

Border Instructions

Once you’ve completed the C2C square, you can add a simple border to give it a polished finish.

Chain 1 (this doesn’t count as a stitch).
Single crochet (SC) into the space between the boxes just below your current position, then chain 2.
Repeat the pattern: (SC into the space between the next 2 boxes, chain 2) 8 times.
After reaching the corner, SC into the corner stitch, chain 2.
Continue with the sequence within square brackets: [(SC into the space between the next 2 boxes, chain 2) 10 times, SC into the corner stitch, chain 2] a total of 3 times.
Finally, join the 1st SC to finish the border.

The C2C Heart Square Blanket is a fun and rewarding project that’s sure to be a hit whether you’re making it for yourself or as a gift. The C2C technique offers endless possibilities for creativity, so feel free to experiment with different colors and patterns within the squares.
