🧶 Supplies

  • Yarn:

    • 2 skeins of DMC Senso Cotton, Art. 700 in Rose Cassis 1007

  • 1 skein of Rainbow, Art. 760 in White Flecked 1660

  • Gauge: 10 cm = 7 dc x 2 rounds

    🔁 Abbreviations (US Terms)

    • ch – chain

    • sl st – slip stitch

    • dc – double crochet

    • sc – single crochet

    • inc – increase (2 dc in same st)

    • 2 dc tog in same st – two double crochets together in the same stitch (explained below)

    ✨ Special Stitch: 2 dc Together in Same Stitch

    Work 2 incomplete double crochets into the same stitch (leave the last loop of each dc on the hook), then yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

    The beanie is worked in the round from the crown down.

    Round 1 (Rose Cassis)
    Start in a magic ring:
    Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 17 dc into the ring.
    Join with sl st to the 3rd ch of starting ch-3. (18 dc)

    Round 2
    Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in same stitch.
    2 dc in each stitch around.

    Round 3
    Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 inc, 1 dc, repeat from * around.
    Join with sl st.

    Rounds 4 to 9
    Continue working in the round, increasing evenly as shown in the diagram (generally following the pattern of spacing increases in each round).

    Round 10 (White Flecked)
    Attach the new color yarn.
    Ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc together in same stitch, repeat around.
    Join with sl st in the 3rd ch of starting ch-3.

    Round 11
    Ch 1. Work 92 sc evenly around as shown in the diagram.
    Join with sl st to the first sc.
    Fasten off and cut yarn.

    Rounds 12 to 16 (Rose Cassis)
    Attach the rose yarn again.
    Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 91 dc around.
    Join with sl st to the 3rd ch of starting ch-3.
    Repeat this row through Round 16.

    At the end of Round 16, fasten off and weave in the ends.
    Fold the last 2 rounds inward to create a neat brim.
