Corner-to-Corner Crochet Throw Pattern

Welcome back to My Crafts Ideas! Today, we have a delightful pattern for a Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Crochet Throw. This throw is not only fun to make but also provides a beautiful, textured finish. Let’s dive into the details of this project!

Notes:

Color Changes on Increase Row: Work the last double crochet (dc) until 2 loops remain on the hook, cut the old color, yarn over (yo) with the new color to complete the dc, and continue with the new color.

Color Changes on Decrease Row: Do not chain (ch) 6. Turn, slip stitch (sl st) in the first 3 dc, insert hook in ch-3 space of the same block, yo with the new color, complete sl st with the new color, and continue with the new color.

Pattern Instructions:

Shape First Corner

With Color A:

  1. Row 1 (Right Side): Ch 6, dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch; turn – 1 corner block made.
  2. Row 2: Ch 6, dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch (beginning block made), (sl st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch-3 space of the previous row (block made); turn – 2 blocks.
  3. Row 3: Ch 6, dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch, [(sl st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in the next ch-3 space of the previous row] twice; turn – 3 blocks.
  4. Row 4: Ch 6, dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch, [(sl st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in the next ch-3 space of the previous row] 3 times changing to Color B in the last dc; turn – 4 blocks.

Continue increasing 1 block at the beginning of each row until there are 48 blocks across. Meanwhile, follow this stripe pattern:

  • 6 rows with Color B
  • 6 rows with Color C
  • 6 rows with Color D
  • 2 rows with Color A

Repeat these 20 rows throughout the stripe pattern.

Shape Second Corner

Note: Mark the beginning edge as the width of the piece. You will decrease 1 block at the beginning of one row and increase 1 block at the beginning of the next row to maintain the same number of blocks across. Follow the notes for changing colors.

  1. Decrease Row 1: Sl st across the first 3 dc to the ch-3 space of the second block of the previous row, [(sl st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in the next ch-3 space of the previous row] to the end of the row; turn – 48 blocks.
  2. Increase Row 2: Ch 6, dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in the next 2 ch, [(sl st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in the next ch-3 space of the previous row] to the last block, sl st in the ch-3 space of the last block; turn – 48 blocks.

Repeat these two rows, maintaining the stripe pattern, until the piece measures 43” [109 cm] along the marked edge and 55” [140 cm] along the unmarked edge.

Shape Third Corner

Continue the stripe pattern, repeating Decrease Row 1 every row, decreasing 1 block at the beginning of every row until only 1 block remains on the last row for the final corner. Fasten off.

Finishing

Edging Round:

  1. With the right side facing, join Color A in any ch-3 space, ch 3, 4 dc in the same space.
  2. *[sc in the center dc of the next block, 5 dc in the next ch-3 space] to the corner; work 6 dc in the corner space.
  3. Repeat from * around to the beginning edge, [sc in the center dc of the next block, 5 dc in the next ch-3 space] to the first stitch.
  4. Join with a sl st in the top of the beginning ch-3. Fasten off.
  5. Weave in all ends.
