Gauge:

10 single crochets (sc) + 12 rows = 4 inches (10 cm)
Basic square = 6 inches x 6 inches (15 cm)

Important: Be sure to check your gauge before starting to ensure that your afghan will be the correct size.

Afghan Components:

Basic Square (Make 35):

Using Main Color (MC), chain 16.
Row 1: Single crochet (sc) into the 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across – 15 sc.
Row 2: Chain 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Repeat Row 2 for a total of 18 rows. Fasten off.

Long Frame Section (Make 16 in Color A; 18 in Color B):

With Color A or B, chain 36.
Row 1: Single crochet into the 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across – 35 sc.
Repeat Row 2 for a total of 6 rows. Fasten off.

Short Frame Section (Make 8 in Color A; 6 in Color B):

With Color A or B, chain 21.
Row 1: Single crochet into the 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across – 20 sc.
Repeat Row 2 for a total of 6 rows. Fasten off.

Assembly:

Once you’ve completed all the sections, it’s time to assemble your afghan. Sew the pieces together invisibly, following the assembly diagram provided in the pattern. For the frame sections, position the horizontal pieces with the beginning chain at the lower edge, and the vertical pieces with the beginning chain at the right edge.

Border:

Now, let’s add a finishing touch with a beautiful border.

Rounds 1-5:

Join the Main Color (MC) with a slip stitch in any corner.

Work 100 single crochets (sc) evenly spaced across the top and bottom, and 130 sc along the long side edges. In each corner, work 3 sc.

Continue with 1 more round in MC, 1 round in Color A, and 2 rounds in MC.

Round 6:

In the corner sc, chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet), double crochet in the same space.

Chain 4, slip stitch in the 4th chain from the hook to create a picot, then work 2 double crochets in the same space.

Skip 3 sc, work 2 double crochets, picot, and 2 more double crochets in the next sc; repeat from * across, adjusting spacing as needed to finish at the next corner. Continue around in this manner.

And there you have it—a beautiful Crochet Woven Ribbon Afghan that is both easy to make and delightful to display. This afghan makes a fantastic gift or a cozy addition to your living space. Enjoy the process and the colorful result!
