Teddy Bear Blanket Crochet Pattern

There’s something truly heartwarming about a handmade blanket, especially when it features a cuddly teddy bear motif. Perfect for nurseries, baby showers, or as a keepsake for children, this Teddy Bear Blanket Crochet Pattern combines the classic granny square style with an adorable teddy appliqué at the center. It’s a project that’s both comforting and fun to create, bringing together the charm of traditional crochet squares with the playfulness of a teddy bear design.

The blanket is worked in three stages: first you create the smaller border squares, then the large center square, and finally join everything together. The teddy bear appliqué is crafted separately and sewn onto the middle of the blanket as the finishing touch. The result is a timeless piece that can be passed down through generations.

This project is ideal for intermediate crocheters, but beginners who are confident with granny square techniques can also enjoy making it. Choose soft, cozy yarns in colors that suit your theme—whether you go with traditional teddy bear browns or playful pastels for a nursery. The teddy bear applique adds an extra layer of character, making it a one-of-a-kind blanket.

Use the same hook size.

  • Attach the 24 border squares around the large center square, one at a time, by crocheting them directly to the big square.

  • Follow this method until all 24 squares are joined around.

Part 4 – Border Rounds

  • Work additional granny-style rounds around the entire blanket until the desired size (for example, Rounds 21–35).
