Graphic Fall Throw Crochet Pattern

As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, it’s the perfect time to embark on a new crochet project that captures the essence of fall. This season, we’re excited to introduce the Graphic Fall Throw Crochet Pattern—a delightful and cozy creation that will not only keep you warm but also add a touch of autumn charm to your home. Whether you’re an experienced crocheter or just starting out, this pattern is sure to become a favorite in your collection.

The Graphic Fall Throw features a beautiful combination of geometric patterns and textured stitches that evoke the spirit of autumn. The pattern is suitable for intermediate crocheters, providing a delightful challenge without being overly complex.

The pattern employs the join-as-you-go method, allowing you to seamlessly connect motifs as you work. This not only reduces the amount of post-crochet assembly but also gives your throw a polished, professional finish.

Throw Dimensions: The finished throw measures 45 inches in width and 55 inches in length (114.5 x 139.5 cm).

Notes:

The throw is crafted using 84 marquise motifs, worked in joined rounds with the right side facing. These marquise motifs are then joined into strips, following the arrangement depicted in the Assembly Diagram, and finally connected together.

When changing colors, complete the last stitch of the old color up to the last yarn over. Yarn over with the new color and draw it through all loops on the hook to finish the stitch. Continue with the new color, and cut the old color.

If instructed to work into a stitch or space “2 rounds below,” target the round numbered 2 less than the current round. For instance, when working on Round 3, a stitch “2 rounds below” is located in Round 3 – 2 = Round 1.

Tails at the beginning and end of the strips are gathered to create tassels.

Special Stitches:

  1. a. bphdc (back post half double crochet): Yarn over, insert the hook from the back side of the work to the front and then to the back around the post of the indicated stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on the hook), yarn over and draw through all 3 loops. Skip the stitch “in front of” the Bpdc.
  2. b. dc2tog (double crochet two together): [Yarn over, insert the hook in the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 2 times, yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on the hook.

Special Techniques:

  1. a. Join with Bphdc: Place a slip knot on the hook, yarn over, insert the hook from the back side of the work to the front and then to the back around the post of the indicated stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on the hook), yarn over and draw through all 3 loops. Skip the stitch “in front of” the bpdc.
  2. b. Join with dc: Place a slip knot on the hook, yarn over, insert the hook into the indicated space, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on the hook), [yarn over, draw through 2 loops] twice.
  3. c. Join with sc: Place a slip knot on the hook, insert the hook into the indicated stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on the hook.
