Welcome back to My Crafts Ideas! Today, we’re diving into a beautiful and versatile crochet technique known as the Interlocking Filet Stitch. This stitch creates a stunning woven effect, perfect for adding texture and visual interest to your projects. To achieve the best effect from this stitch, choose two highly contrasting colors. This contrast will make the intricate design pop and highlight the unique interlocking pattern.
In the sample below, I’ve used worsted weight yarn with Cranberry as the main color (MC) and Aran as the contrasting color (CC). I used an H hook for this project. Let’s get started!
Materials
Yarn: Worsted weight in two highly contrasting colors (MC: Cranberry, CC: Aran)
Hook: Size H (5.0 mm)
Pattern Instructions
Row 1 (Foundation)
With MC, ch 32.
Dc in 6th ch from hook.
Ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across to the end.
Ch 4. Drop loop off hook and lay foundation aside. (14 spaces make up the foundation).
Row 2
With CC, ch 30.
Pick up and hold the foundation with ch 4 to the upper right.
Taking the CC chain, weave it in and out starting from the right side and underneath the MC foundation, ending with the last ch of CC in the middle of the last sp in MC foundation. Ensure the chain is not twisted and the veins of the chain are facing you.
Pick up the CC chain with the hook and, working in the back of the work on CC, make a dc in the 6th ch from the hook.
Ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc into next ch. Repeat from * across the work.
Ch 4 and drop the loop. Do not turn the work.
